About Al-Hijra
Serving Our Community Since 1998
Al-Hijra Islamic Education Trust was established in April 1998 by Muslim families in Newlands who wanted to educate their sons and daughters in the Islamic way of life. What began as religious programmes in family homes, and then in hired community halls, grew into the first Islamic centre in Newlands.
Today the centre is managed by a Board of Trustees. A multi-racial community group, the Trust provides good quality Islamic education to children and adults alike and maintains and enhances the multicultural activities of the community, serving families across Newlands, Johnsonville, Paparangi, Churton Park, Khandallah and neighbouring suburbs.
